10 Reasons Not To Miss Connect & Construct and Autodesk University 2017!

October 12, 2017 Adam Higgins

It’s that time again!

We are really excited that The Connect & Construct Summit and Autodesk University (AU) 2017 are right around the corner (November 13-16)!

Reason #1: It’s All About You and Your Peers

The Connect & Construct Summit is a conference exclusively for BIM 360 users. Your peers will lead important discussions and share their experiences on such key issues as how BIM 360 tools helped them go after more business, increase margins, build resiliency and more.

You’ll also have plenty of opportunity to mingle with your peers and learn some new best practices!

Reason #2: We Have Big News

We’ll have a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT to make during the opening keynotes of Connect & Construct on Monday, November 13th. Hosted by Autodesk's Jim Lynch, VP of BIM Products, and Sarah Hodges, Director of the Autodesk Construction Business, you'll hear from Dominic Thasarathar who will discuss the future of construction,  as well as David Epps, Director of Construction Technology at Winter Construction and Rich Holbrook, Director of Construction Operations at Layton Construction Company.

Reasons #3 - #9: Gain Actionable Insights from Awesome Sessions!

Here are a few of the inspiring sessions at Connect & Construct that will have you walking away with actionable insight you can start using as soon as you get back to the jobsite:

At the Connect & Construct Summit:

Embracing the Digital Journey – One Company’s Travels from VDC to the Jobsite
Hear a travelogue of experiences from one construction company that has made great progress on digitizing their operations - on the field and back at the office. They’ll share lessons learned and what continues to drive them towards their destination.

Improving Project Execution and Solving Challenges with the Internet of Things

This panel will discuss how the Internet of Things can it be applied at the construction site to help firms save time, money, improve project outcomes and worker safety as well as risk management, crane efficiency, and more. Case examples and metrics will be included as well. Panelists include Pillar Technologies, Triax Technologies, Concrete Sensors, and Versatile Natures.

Uncovering BIM Based Business Opportunities for Contractors

Learn how embedded data can provide new ways for contractors to improve business capabilities and find new commercial opportunities. Learn how Beck Technology, RIB, Sage Estimating and Sigma Estimates are connecting BIM into their existing estimating solutions; and new providers, such as Assemble, are addressing the opportunity of BIM processes in pre-construction.

At Autodesk University:

AI for Construction Safety—Reducing Job Site Risk (CS124128)

Hear directly from Oliver Smith, Director of Virtual Design and Construction at Skanska and Josh Kanner, Founder and CEO of Smartvid.io, as they discuss how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not only improving jobsite safety, but also greatly speeding up the safety risk assessment process. They will also walk through AI safety pilot projects including one in which risk indicators were seen by the AI through BIM 360 Field.

Virtual Reality for Planning, Design, and Construction (CS125987)

Dusan Selezan of Balfour Beatty Construction discusses how the company is implementing virtual reality (VR) for planning, design, and construction in its projects. Learn how VR is helping owners, designers, and contractors better visualize and implement design for high-security buildings, jails, airports, and complex medical centers. See how using VR in construction planning is improving design--leading to faster project approvals, decreases in the number of change orders, and better projects.

A New Experience at AU This Year: The Theatre

New to AU this year is The Theater, where you can explore technologies of today and tomorrow that may have a major impact on how we build down the line. Explore the merging of real and virtual worlds, producing new environments and visualizations where physical and digital objects coexist and interact in real time. Or join the conversation with Framestore VFX Supervisor Richard Hoover, and see a special screening of Bladerunner 2049!

The Exhibit Hall and Autodesk Drone Zone

Ever wanted to see live drones flown in person? Now is your chance! Come to the Exhibit Hall, where we’ll have a 30' x 30' cage where real drones will be flown to demonstrate how they're used to capture data for use in design! While you’re there, check out our impressive variety of exhibitors who will be demonstrating their technologies and see how they could benefit your firm.
