Building—Collaboration—Receive alerts when BIM 360 data is updated

November 20, 2018 Autodesk

What

Receive email alerts when new versions of documents or models are uploaded to BIM 360.

Who

All design and construction users.

How

BIM 360 Docs is the single project repository for BIM 360 solutions.

After users are invited to a project, they can subscribe to a folder (and eventually its subfolders). They then receive email alerts when new data is available, or data is updated.

To subscribe, right-click the folder (or click the icon with 3 dots):

You then have the choice to subscribe to this folder only or to this folder and all its subfolders.

You then receive an email when data is added or updated.

When you receive an email with a link, click it to open the correct folder in your computer web browser. Or, click it on a mobile device (iOS or Android tablet / phone) to open the folder in the BIM 360 mobile app.

Note: Only users can subscribe to a folder. Administrators can’t subscribe for them.

The next example describes how to set up email alerts if you use BIM 360 Design. (The project administrator needs to grant you folder permissions beforehand.)

  • Subscribe to your team folder (ARCH TEAM in this example) to receive alerts when your team (Architects in this example) publishes a Revit file to the folder

  • Subscribe to the subfolder Shared / Other team name (Shared/MEP TEAM in this example). You then receive alerts when another team (MEP team in this example) creates a package.

  • Subscribe to the team subfolder called Your team name/Consumed/Other team name (MEP TEAM in this example). You then receive alerts when your team BIM manager consumes the other team’s data. You can link this data, for example, to your Revit models.

Why

Stay informed about the activity on data you have access to.

What next?

If you are a BIM 360 project admin, view and export project activity logs.
